I coach Executive Education programs and co-lead graduate classes “Launching Large-Scale Sustainable Transformations”, “Creative Cultures in Organizations” and "Organizational Psychology of Design Thinking".
With our Executive programs we aim to drive organizational change that is rooted in consumer focused innovation, creative collaboration and iterative innovation cycles. Our teaching approach is based on the most recent findings from leading neuro scientists, psychologists and anthropologists with the goal to inspire workshop participants to change their behaviors and mindsets and create work environments that are more conducive to innovation. Some of the behavior changes include taking more risks, embracing and learning from failure in the innovation process, engaging radically diverse project teams and helping employees tolerate ambiguity that is part of creative problem solving.
In order to bring my design thinking expertise to other scientists and faculty members, I helped start the “Research as Design" team at Stanford University that developed the curriculum for applying design thinking to scientific and scholarly research. We teach programs for graduate students and faculty members at Stanford University and Doctoral programs around the world. With my research team at Stanford, we conducted a study that uncovers and analyzes the creative process behind innovative scientific research. Another study focuses on the role of creative confidence in PhD students. Inspired by the findings, we developed a pedagogy to nurture creative potential in young scholars and empower them to combine scientific process with design principles and creative practice to produce original research in their field.
